From a former client:
When I first met Amy in a group DUI class in 2013 I respected her no-nonsense, frank, and introspective approach to therapy. What I realized at the time was that unlike so many therapists before her, I wouldn’t be able to bluff, lie, and manipulate my way through our sessions. I knew if I was ever going to be ready to get sober and change my life, Amy would be my first and only call. Five years later I made that call and have never second-guessed or doubted that it was the decision that changed the dangerous trajectory my life was taking.
Amy did not do the work for me or pander to my stories I used to justify my behavior. She listened to what I had to say and pushed me to view my life with a 360-degree perspective and tell myself the whole story about my alcoholism, depression, and anxiety. Amy taught me about accountability, respect, gratitude, and how to drastically improve the quality of the tools I have as coping skills and did all of this with an invaluable sense of self, strength, and empathy. Amy’s approach to her clients is not purely theoretical, it comes from a genuine place of life experience and perseverance, an understanding of human nature, and wanting to help people in improving their own circumstances.
For anyone who struggles with addiction and substance abuse, deals with self-loathing, feelings of guilt and shame, and unresolved issues in their lives, getting the chance to work with Amy in any capacity is an incredible opportunity. Amy will challenge you to change the fundamental things you don’t even know are sabotaging you or holding you back and for you to realize your potential in your own life. Five years ago I made the decision to get sober. Amy taught me how to save my own life and I will always be grateful.
From a parent of a client:
As the mum to someone who has been sober for five years, each and every day I say a special thanks to Amy for her amazing gift and talent. We had run the gamut of therapists and approaches, and it wasn’t until we met Amy, and my daughter worked with her and continues to, that transformation to a sober life could begin and be maintained. Amy has since become a resource to other members of our family who aren’t necessarily struggling with “addiction” but do want to transform some aspect of their lives in a respectful, yet powerful, way. Amy’s professional, approachable, intuitive style brings power to anyone she works with; we can’t recommend her enough.
Testimonial from Defense Lawyer Kristen Frost
In all my experiences with Amy Dixon, she has been the most unbelievably supportive and life changing therapist I have worked with regarding individual addiction and substance abuse issues. Amy leads a team at Integrity Counseling that is inspired by her own well-rounded experience, her educational background and her personal talent that relates with human beings that, like all of us, have issues and make mistakes. Amy has the ability to reach out to people, people who are facing their most difficult challenges, in a holistic, honest, and fair manner. At the same time, she has the keen instinct to identify why individuals find themselves in this type of situation, and influence and change the future path for her clients, their family and loved ones.
Amy gives integrity, and her entire self, to the court system, all parties involved in the court system, and to justice.
It is no coincidence that she chose to name her counseling center Integrity Counseling, because that is what defines Amy Dixon.
From an adult client:
My journey into the depths of drug addiction has lasted over 40 years. Despite repeated attempts at sobriety, nothing worked for me. But that’s in the past, and I owe my present sobriety to my Therapist, Amy Dixon. Ms. Dixon’s insight has proven to be cathartic, opening windows to my life long closed and destructive beyond imagination. But her unique style of therapy didn’t just open those windows; rather she provided me with the tools necessary to deal with the core causes of my addiction, and successfully overcome the devastating effects it has had on my life.
Over the course of my addiction, I have been in and out of therapy and various recovery programs countless times. But it wasn’t until I met Ms. Dixon that a life free of addiction became not only possible but a reality. The sincerity and pure passion which Ms. Dixon has shown has returned control of my life to me and shown me a life free of drugs is more than worth the effort necessary to free myself from the bonds of addiction.
But as I mentioned above, the time spent with Ms. Dixon has not only opened the doors which led to my illness, but she has helped me understand the root causes of my addiction and subsequently guided me toward the closure necessary to put those incidents to rest. She possesses a unique insight, when coupled with her ability to communicate, that makes a life free of alcohol and drugs an obtainable goal.
Not wanting to sound melodramatic, I can say with all honesty that Ms. Dixon has given me a most precious gift, the gift of a life free of the sorrow and misery that has accompanied me for more than 40 years. There has simply been no other individual in my 61 years who has shown the kind of belief and trust in me, along with the willingness and patience to guide me into the light of a life free of that which enslaved me since childhood. I can provide no higher recommendation except to say, “From the bottom of a new-found heart, thank you Amy!”
From another adult client:
I have been seeing Amy for a little over 8 years now. She has interacted with me both on personal and court ordered issues. Through the time that I have spent with her I can say that I would not trust anyone else with helping me ever again. Amy is the most caring, sensitive, and intelligent person that I know. She is willing to do whatever it takes to help but is not afraid to call you on your shit. If there is anyone that I trust with my deepest, darkest secrets it is her.
I first started seeing Amy soon after she became an MSW in 1997. It was clear after a few sessions that she had special and unique talents suited for this work. I was amazed at her capacity to understand issues, then filter through the rubble to find the essence – the truth. She possesses a unique blend of caring, honesty, attentiveness, bluntness, intuition and nurturing. She tells you what you need to hear but in a loving way that really resonates. I remember telling her that she should have her own TV show between Oprah and Dr. Phil. Instead of TV, Amy got better at her work – and she has helped many people from all walks of life become better people, including my children and others I’ve referred to her. Today, Amy is still curious – still searching and evolving – and she brings her array of experiences with her. Amy Dixon is simply the best there is!
From the parent of a client:
I had the great fortune to be referred to Amy Dixon and her services at Integrity by my daughter’s criminal law attorney that I hired when she racked up about 7 criminal charges two summers ago. My daughter has been difficult since age 11, beginning with anorexia. It has just progressed from there. We have gone through various diagnoses, many types of inpatient treatment, and an entire year at a therapeutic residential high school. I say this so you realize how many therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists I have worked with over the years. My daughter was definitely one of the toughest patients Integrity has had to deal with, and they never wavered. Amy was there to help my daughter and me the entire time. She never gave up. And believe me, it was tough. After every session I had with Amy, I left feeling more grounded and more certain of what I needed to do. I can never thank her enough for the help she has given ME, much less all the help she gave my daughter.
Amy Dixon and her team are very ‘hands on’ working with their clients. Someone is always reachable, even at non-business hours. The therapy they provide is probably the best I’ve been exposed to. They have a very direct ‘tell it like it is” approach and because they have such a wide base of experience, they are always helpful. It has been a long struggle with many personal individual sessions for Amy to finally get me to see that my actions, while loving, were totally enabling my daughter to continue down her self-destructive path. Amy is the only therapist that has given me that ‘a-ha’ moment. She boils it down to the bare facts and gives it to you straight. Amy has made a huge impact in my life and that of my daughter. I cannot recommend her services high enough.
